MEDIUM: 9m high aluminium tower, 9 x 2 m banner, 21 channel surround sound composition, 21 megaphones.
‘Diversion End’ is a symphony that engages with notions of diversion moving from content to reception. The audio element is composed from the calls of a hundred animals, taken from wildlife sound archives selected from the list of the 4,859 animals that inhabit London Zoo. A cacophony of animal voices ascends a tower of speakers, to then gradually diminish.
‘Diversion End’ is a signpost to the evolutionary processes caused by the interaction between humans and the world they occupy.
